In the darkest corners of the world, gold dragons sometimes dwell. There, they act as shaded beacons of light, revealing their true forms only to those they learn to trust implicitly.
Thus it is that Astarathia, one of the most powerful dragons in the Shaar, lives in a place that only recently has tamed the wild lands.
Within the Shaarhaven capital of Irongates, Astarathia lives in the human guise of a politician, providing the voice of the local people in the court of King Brylynn. Although she has lived in the Shaar for nearly 50 years, Astarathia has only kept the same disguise for little more than a few decades, and sometimes portrays family members of her previous false selves. In her years within Irongate, Astarathia has provided hundreds of frightened, starving people with food and shelter and has given hope and encouragement to those who seek it. Only once has Astarathia taken to the sky over the city in her true form. The people still speak of the shining golden dragon to this day, referring to the event as the Night of the Golden Moon. It was this day that she helped to free Olgetown from the grasp of the Zhents.
Recently a male golden dragon sought her out. Edvarthixian came to Irongate for the purpose of courting Astara. They did spend much time together, but in the end Astara felt her indepedence to strongly to be life bonded at such a young age and in the end Edvar understood and made his way to the south seeking a place of his own. Astara did enjoy her time spent with the anceint wyrm and came away with much widsom and a pregnancy as well. Xedeti! was born only a year ago, but her wisdom and intellegence go beyond what normal mortals can understand. Her mother feels her younglings power grow each day, but as with most dragons she is content to watch from afar and go about her own interests as her young clut grows.
